Uttarayan

This jan 15th i recaptured memories from childhood kite flying!i remember flying kites with my brother, neighbors and cousins but not nearly all day long and that was long long ago. ahmedabad(even today)its a big celebration every uttarayan.skies are adorned with colorful kites daytime and when the dawn falls;with chinese lantern or mini hot-air balloons .Beautiful sight all day long!and so much activity!

We all gathered at the house of one of the founders of manav sadhna and spent the day garnering much vitamin c and we even had a cooking facility up on terrace which meant that we stay there from morning right up until night!

The thrilling part arrives around sunset when there are just a countable number of kites flying up and its tough competition to be the last flag bearer!we came second close to take on when our kite was ripped down the glorious pedestal!tsk
The festival Is not just the celebration to mark the moving of sun's path to the northern hemisphere(which also means the onset of summer) but it also speaks for immense goodwill in playing a game where the players aren't just limited to people you see/know,but almost an entire city.
Oneness!

Its amazing how amazingly small the world is.
My friend raghu in ahmadabad gifted me a tsunamika keychain as his memory for me.This weekend when i met up with a friend in bangalore she immediately recognized the lil stuffed doll from this picture and that even she brought back a few of those from her trip pondicherry to give it among friends.wonderful!
This is Hila holding a similar doll that she makes it herself. She usually clubs 3 to 4 of ascending sizes to sell as souvenirs to the visitors at Ludiya.

A week since my returning from my incredible journey with gramshree.I'm still getting used to the fact that i am back home, that i dont have to have a schedule for the next day just before i fall asleep,i dont need to try hard to squeeze in as many things in a day cos i dont have a time frame for anything now,and after all that hard time i had gramatically correcting myself while speaking in hindi the left hemisphere of my brain must be on a full lax mode.
I spent the gone by week working on the pictures, meeting extended family and friends and mostly staying in and soaking in the reflect of the wonderful month that has been a great start to the year ahead.
I also clearly remember being skeptical just before i set out on this travel and almost compelling myself to a no-expectation frame of mind.Looking back at it all i cant help but grin!
This was no short of an experience for me where it felt like the universe is conspiring to put it together!Grateful!
